Gerhard Wimberger’s
80th birthday

The Friends of the Salzburg Festival celebrated Professor Gerhard Wimberger’s 80th birthday on 30 November 2003. The evening began with a concert in the Mozarteum and on the programme was the world premiere of Wimberger’s latest work Quaestio aeterna – Deus, Fragen nach Gott performed by the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra conducted by Ivor Bolton with Paul Armin Edelmann as soloist and Stephan Rehm as narrator. After the concert the Friends Association hosted a reception in the Dancing Master’s Hall in the Mozart Residence on Makartplatz, a chance for the guests to congratulate Gerhard Wimberger. On behalf of the Salzburg Festival Helga Rabl-Stadler thanked him for his services to the Festival.
