Festival Soirée in Vienna

On 10 December 2003 at a soirée in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna the Salzburg Festival presented its programme for 2004. Clemens Hellsberg, Wolf-Dieter Rath, Raphael Flieder and Wolfgang Schulz, all members of the Vienna Philharmonic, played for the many guests who had appeared. Artistic director Peter Ruzicka introduced Henry Purcell’s King Arthur and Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s Die tote Stadt and played musical examples. Jürgen Flimm spoke about the drama productions at this year’s Salzburg Festival. Wilfried Seipel, director of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, festival president Helga Rabl-Stadler and Heinrich Spängler, president of the Friends Association, were pleased about what has now become a traditional Salzburg highlight during Advent in Vienna.
