| Rupert Huber appointed in Cologne
From the season 2004/2005 the Austrian conductor Rupert Huber will be the new principal conductor of the West German Radio Orchestra in Cologne. Rupert Huber studied conducting and composition at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He is involved in a variety of musical activities: as a conductor he has been working since 1983 with various radio choruses and orchestras; from 1990 to 2000 he directed the South West German Radio vocal ensemble.
Huber has conducted many world premieres of works by Stockhausen, Nono, Christou and is the founder of the Jani Christou Institute in Athens. Huber lectured at the Mozarteum from 1980– 98; from 1996–98 he was professor of choral conducting at the Academy of Music in Graz.
